If you follow me on social media, you should know that I’m a sleep talker by now. My husband blackmails me about it on the regular.

What’s most surprising about these sleep talks, is that I never remember them! There have been very few times that I could remember my dreams, and the ones that I do remember, are the ones where I’ve woken myself up out of my sleep because I was talking so loud.

But the other morning was really different. I had a dream and I could remember it clearly, partly because I was in and out of sleep during this dream. I would wake up because the dream was scaring me, but dose off not too long afterwards.

In the dream, Darren and I were in my old home with our helper, Florence. We stood at the windows, afraid, because a group of men were coming towards the house to break in. Flo thought we could scare them if we stood at the windows with knives to show them that we were armed, but this only seemed to aggravate them. When they realised that we were armed with knives, more of the thieves appeared with larger, more dangerous weapons. Just as that happened, Darren’s alarm went off and I woke up.

I prayed and asked God to show me what this all meant. I’m not someone to believe in dreams having meaning, but this dream stuck with me, and I remembered every detail. After Darren’s alarm went off, I dosed off again and the dream picked up where it ended off. The thieves were using tennis balls to break the windows and enter the house. I asked God again, what does this all mean?

And He answered with a question: “What do you do when there’s a threat of thieves breaking into your home, Arlene?”

I said; “I would up my security.”

He answered; “Exactly. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. The only way that he can in to steal is if he gains access to your heart. You need to start upping your spiritual security – because the only way that he can kill and destroy, is if he has gotten in to steal.”

I was blown away with how clearly God had spoken into my Spirit. A few weeks back, Darren and I had lost a valuable piece if equipment, imperative to both of our businesses. The next day, I heard the warning; “the devil isn’t happy with you 2, protect yourselves.” The dream was only a confirmation of what I had already felt in my Spirit.

The truth is, the devil is a worthy opponent, and he isn’t out to play games. In the scripture, it says that he comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I firmly believe that he can only kill and destroy once he’s gained access to steal. Don’t allow him in!

We spend so much money on our physical security, but what about our Spiritual security. We need to prepare ourselves, and guard our hearts, don’t let any little things come in to steal from you, and even if some things do get stolen, its ok,

God promises us that He can restore to us 7 fold what was stolen, but restoring what has been destroyed takes a little more work from our side – because God is able to restore anything, but there is some work that we need to do, and sometimes we are our own biggest enemies, because we are just not willing to do the work.

So today, I’d like to encourage you to invest in yourself spiritually. Meditate on the Word of God, and read books that are based on His Word. Prepare yourself, because prevention is the best way to avoid frustration and disappointment. God wants to help you, keep you out of harms way, but He can only do that if you are under His protection. Sometimes we step out from under it without even realising it. Stay intentional about your relationship with Him, and keep dying to yourself.

Thank you for coming by! I love hearing from you, please leave your comment below.
